Christopher Michael Pan’s experience in the investment banking industry has included roles as a senior executive for multiple industry leading firms including Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas, and Credit Suisse. An investment bank is a financial institution that acts as a financial intermediary for a wide range of fiscal transactions. A financial intermediary is essentially a middleman in a financial transaction, responsible for facilitating the movement and exchange of funds between borrowers, lenders, and other actors in the financial markets. In addition to the intermediary role, investment banks are involved in other financial activities that include underwriting. Underwriting is a financial activity that helps raise funds for corporations or governments. Corporations and governments typically issue debt or equity securities, such as stocks and bonds, which are purchased by investors who pay a market based dollar amount to acquire them. The cost of these securities is set by underwriters who assess the risk of an investment in order to determine an accurate market price.

One of these was London and Capital Investment Management, where Christopher Michael Pan worked with development investors from countries in Europe and Asia. According to recent reports, more and more Chinese are starting to buy properties as well as relocate overseas for reasons including lifestyle, investment, emigration, and education. Many are considering the United Kingdom, where some want their children to study. In addition to education, they are drawn to the lower costs of like-investments compared to those in China. Because of these and other reasons, including the recent Brexit vote, real estate agents and property experts expect an inflow of $200 billion in real estate investment annually over the next ten years. The surge is expected primarily overseas, and especially in London and other parts of the UK. Neil Jensen of Fraser and Co, an institution specializing in London properties, is now preparing to offer major investment opportunities that are specifically designed to attract more Chinese investors. One example is the master plan of a new Chinatown, where 2-bedroom duplex penthouses and ordinary one-bedroom flats are being offered at reasonable prices. ![]() An expert in investment banking, Christopher Michael Pan began his career as a trained accountant but is now a corporate financier. In addition to previous experience at banking firms such as BNP Paribas, Christopher Michael Pan most recently served as an advisor the board for Venus First Limited. Outside of his professional work, Mr. Pan enjoys interior design and has served as a real estate renovation consultant through his company London Restoration and Design. Founded in 1999, London Restoration and Design is staffed by a professional construction team that has worked on Victorian and Georgian properties throughout the London area. The firm, which operates as a building contractor and an independent property developer, is equipped to handle small projects in addition to complex renovations and restorations. There are several approaches that are utilized to improve or treat a property, particularly historic buildings. Preservation is a maintenance focused approach that attempts to keep a property’s existing materials in good condition. Rehabilitation is used when changes are necessary for a property to remain useful but keeps the original character and structure intact. The final two approaches, restoration and reconstruction, are more involved. The goal of restoration is to renovate a property so that it is reflective of a specific time period, while reconstruction involves building or recreating entire properties or portions of properties. ![]() Active in investment banking and property restoration, Christopher Michael Pan has facilitated high-profile transactions spanning the globe. An enthusiast of outdoor activities such as cycling and snowboarding in his free time, Christopher Michael Pan has competed in several triathlon events. Known as a test of endurance as much as of athletic prowess, the triathlon encompasses swimming, running, and cycling components and rewards those able to pace themselves over a grueling course. On a physiological level, this has to do with limits on the human body’s capacity to store glycogen, which muscles burn in large quantities during high-intensity workouts. Undertaking activities at a moderate pace concentrates energy burning on fat stores and preserves glycogen for when it is truly needed to power performance. The swimming component begins triathlons, and maintaining a consistent pace in the water is key. Controlling speed during the first 400 meters not only prevents fatigue, but also reduces the risk of oxygen depletion, which can lead to panic in the water and a major slowdown. An extremely common scenario involves competitors taking the cycling leg too fast and running out of steam during the ensuing run. During the first several minutes on the bike, it makes sense to bring the heart rate down from the swimming leg and stay properly hydrated. If the terrain is uneven, make sure to maintain even pacing on the uphill sections, even if the temptation is to grind through them to complete them more quickly. If energy has been properly conserved, the running leg should be achievable, as long as a sustainable rhythm is settled in from the start. Avoid the tendency to start out at a faster-than-comfortable pace, which can lead to burnout just before the finishing line. ![]() With executive experience as a corporate financier and investment banker, Christopher Michael Pan also has a passion for the renovation of period buildings. Heading London Restoration and Design Limited, Christopher Michael Pan has guided a number of town house projects in England’s capital city. The defining style of modern architecture in London throughout the 18th century was the Georgian town house. The 17th century had seen intense urban conflagrations, with the Great Fire of London in 1666 turning some 14,000 homes to rubble and causing the establishment of rebuilding acts that mandated specific construction techniques. The Building Act of 1774 went even further by codifying street width, building materials, house layout, and size and height. The Regency town house in London was also common in Brighton and Bath. It had several distinct levels: the basement typically housed servants and the kitchen. The ground floor would have a drawing room and dining room, with a parlor reserved for private family gatherings. The first floor had the primary bedrooms as well as ample space for dances and large-scale parties. The second floor had relatively modest rooms for children and guests, while the attic might provide living space for the maids. ![]() Christopher Michael Pan is an accountant turned investment banker and corporate financier. In his free time, Christopher Michael Pan enjoys competing in triathlons, which are rigorous races that involve running, swimming, and cycling. Typically, triathlons are distributed as follows: 50 percent cycling, 30 percent running, and 20 percent swimming. Preparation for triathlons relies on a proper training regimen. Trainers agree that those who are training for triathlons should match their training according to the division of the events. That means that bike workouts should be longer than running and swimming workouts. At the outset, training should start off depending on one's current level of fitness, but over time should be increased incrementally. However, there should be enough time allocated for recovery. For average adult beginners who aren't overweight and who don’t have any severe medical conditions, the optimal preparation period for a first triathlon is around 12 weeks. It is recommended that a beginner first join sprint triathlons, which are short triathlon events with the approximate distances of 15 miles of cycling, 3 miles of running, and a quarter mile of swimming. A standard triathlon includes approximately 25 miles of biking, 6 miles of running, and nearly a mile of swimming. Ultra-distance triathlons comprise up to 26-mile run, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 2.5-mile swim. An experienced entrepreneur and business executive, Christopher Michael Pan recently founded London Restoration Design Limited, a UK-based company that specializes in renovating older buildings. Christopher Michael Pan’s expertise covers a broad range of business and financial topics, including mergers and acquisitions, mezzanine capital, and private equity.
Private equity refers to investment capital used to acquire equity ownership in operating companies. Most private equity investments come from wealthy individuals and institutions and are managed by private equity or venture capital firms. These firms often work closely with the companies they invest in to improve their performance and overall value. Although minimum investments vary depending on the firm, private equity investors are typically required to make very large initial investments, which can sometimes exceed $1 million. Invested funds are often tied up for a period of months or even years before investors receive a return on their investment. However, this type of investing can generate large profits for all shareholders involved. Holding several upper management roles throughout his career, Christopher Michael Pan is equipped to provide investment advice to a variety of financial entities. Following his position at Venus First Limited, Christopher Michael Pan joined the advisory board of several investment firms.
An advisory board serves the function of providing professional guidance for a business. Meeting up to two times per year, members of an advisory board are compensated monetarily, which strengthens their commitment to the company. The group is comprised of individuals who have vast knowledge in specific fields that play an integral role in the development of a company’s initiatives. As an unbiased entity, an advisory board focuses primarily on subjects with which a company needs assistance, such as marketing, contact network expansion, and human resources. Companies can use an advisory board to test drive ideas before presenting them to their board of directors. Because their focus is more narrow, an advisory board is able to offer ideas and suggestions that are not hindered by other business activities. This provides senior management members with valuable insights and feedback that will help create solid proposals and recommendations. With over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, Christopher Michael Pan has worked as an auditor, investment banker, and a wealth manager in a variety of business environments. Outside of finance, Christopher Michael Pan’s interests include snowboarding, cycling, and competing in triathlons.
The triathlon is a three-part athletic competition that dates back to the early 20th century. Though the three activities may vary from competition to competition, the most popular form today includes swimming, cycling, and running. Triathlons cater to a range of athletic abilities and can be as short as roughly 16 miles or as long as 140 miles. Just as with a marathon or any other challenging athletic event, training and conditioning are critical. Though training will increase performance and improve times, it more fundamentally helps the competitor avoid injury. 1. Three months (12 weeks) is generally considered an adequate time frame within which to prepare for a triathlon, even if the competitor isn’t in great shape. 2. Overexertion is counterproductive. The total weekly training time should be anywhere between 2.5 to 4 hours, spread out over four to five days. 3. Two of the weekly workouts should be dedicated to swimming and two dedicated to a run-bike combo workout, with each workout lasting 30-45 minutes. On the fifth day, take a longer bike ride lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. 4. Some triathletes recommend completing shorter workouts on the weekdays and reserving the weekends for longer, endurance-building training sessions. |
